Google Increases Emphasis On Personalized & Social Search
Google posted recently on their official blog that they updated their Google Social Search algorithm.
In "An Update to Social Search" Google said that social search results will be mixed with their main search results based on relevance (social results previously appeared only at the bottom of results page). The social results kick in when you are logged into your Google Account. When you are logged in, Google will give you far different results than if you are not logged in. For example, if you're looking for a video and someone you know tweeted about the video, you might see that result on the Google Search page with a note and picture of your friend. Similarly, when your friends use Google Search, they could see links and online content that you have created.
Google's increased emphasis on social search speaks to the importance of building a network of online connections and using it skillfully to communicate about and promote your business.
Log in to your Google account and try some searches to see if you can observe the social component at work in the search. Consider linking your Google account with Twitter and Linked in to more broadly share your social media communication.
