The Latest: Viewing Your 404 Pages-If You Have Any

A 404 error is the "the page you requested does not exist" error that you typically see when you go to a web page that does not exist. This usually happens when a webpage has been moved or deleted. Sometimes, your website can have errors that you might not be aware of. When a customer searches for something on your site and sees an error message, it can be discouraging enough that they will simply leave your site.

To find out if your site has any 404 error messages, go to your domain and type in a fake URL and see what comes up. Try something with a misspelling like "socer" instead of "soccer," like this: www.exampledomain.com/socer

Most of the time you will see a generic error message. Does what appear represent your business well? 404 error messages can be creatively designed to have a sense of humor or style that, should a customer stumble upon one of these errors while searching your site, they can be directed back to the site without feeling nervous.
